Welcome
Viaggio in Italian translates to “journey” and this ristorante takes guests on a culinary journey to the southern region of Italy while incorporating the familiarity of American dining.
Executive chef, Victor Perdue makes “fresh” a key component of this Italian-American, casual dining restaurant. “I have always dealt with pressure well and that’s what I love most about working in the kitchen,” Perdue says. The kitchen has always been a part of his life. He went from mopping floors and rolling dough at the tender age of eleven, to making pies at age thirteen. By age twenty, he was in culinary school, working two jobs and raising a family. “Family has always been an important part of my life, and I’m fortunate to be able to provide for them doing something I have always loved and had a passion for,” remarks Perdue. Since graduating from culinary school, Perdue has worked as the executive chef at Giannotti’s, was the former owner of Vic’s on Main, in Crete, IL, and was also the former executive chef for Rosebud at Carmine’s on Rush Street, under well-known chef, Joe Farina. “I learn something new everyday, and continuously absorb the input from other people when it comes to my cooking.”
From al dente pastas to hand-made sausage, Perdue is delivering on his promise to bring fresh, authentic, Southern-Italian cuisine to Madison Street, only a few blocks from the United Center. We hope that you decide to take a trip to the south of Italy to a place we like to call “Viaggio,” and will look forward to seeing you soon!
